The Billy Eichner gay rom-com Bros has added two more queer celebrities to its cast. Bowen Yang and Harvey Fierstein have joined the landmark film, which will feature a predominantly LGBTQ+ ensemble.

Set to premiere in 2022, the movie is described as a “smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They’re both very busy.”

The casting news was first reported by Variety.

Eichner posted on Instagram, “LEGENDS ONLY! BOWEN YANG and HARVEY FIERSTEIN in BROS!!! This is going to be EPIC!!! I’m a lucky man.”

Yang is currently a cast member for Saturday Night Live. His work on the show has earned him an Emmy nomination. Besides his role on SNL, he co-hosts the podcast Las Culturistas. He’s also involved in a queer remake of Pride & Prejudice that’s set on Fire Island.

Stage and film veteran Fierstein has appeared in a number of memorable roles like in Independence Day and Mrs. Doubtfire. He won a Tony for his performance as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray.

Bros will be the first major studio comedy centering around two gay men. Eichner, 42, is set to make history as the first out man to co-write and star in such a film. He’ll also executive produce Bros, while director Nicholas Stoller will be co-writing the script with him. Judd Apatow will serve as a producer.

Luke Macfarlane will be playing Eichner’s love interest in the film. Amanda Bearse will play Macfarlane’s mother.

The additional cast includes Ts Madison (Zola), gender nonconforming entertainer Miss Lawrence (StarThe United States vs. Billie Holiday); RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Symone; Guillermo Diaz (ScandalWeeds, and Half Baked); and Guy Branum of Talk Show the Game Show.
