Great British Bake Off’s Saucy Top/Bottom Jokes Are a Twitter Smash

Author: Advocate.com Editors

Just because the import Great British Bake Off appears on PBS doesn’t mean its social media needs to be stuffy. Indeed, someone tweeting for the series has recently engaged in a series of randy tweets about tops, bottoms, and verses.

The competition series that follows amateur bakers in a quest to be named the best in the U.K. has gained a sizable following in the United States. It’s hosted by Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, and under the watchful eyes of judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, contestants are tasked with creating sweet and savory delights from pork pies to panettone.

The Great British Bake Off’s Twitter account is home to many humorous food puns, but a tweet this week about tops set off a string of replies and rejoinders that became increasingly naughty (in the best way).

It began when the show’s Twitter account posted a screenshot of the show with the closed-captioning that reads, “Is the top straight?” The Twitter account dryly remarked, “Unlikely.”

As commenters responded with sexual innuendo humor, Great British Bake Off‘s account continued upping the stakes. Soon the thread was on to “soggy bottom” jokes.

Here’s a bit of the fun.
