Right-wingers blame gay “depravity” for explicit video recorded in U.S. Senate

An explicit video of two men having sexual intercourse in a U.S. Senate hearing room has caused right-wing media and influencers to blame LGBTQ+ people for the incident. One man in the video is reportedly an aide for Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) and once appeared in a political ad for President Joe Biden. Sen. Cardin has fired the accused aid, even though the aide has denied his involvement. LGBTQ Nation
A spokesperson for Sen. Cardin said, “Aidan Maese-Czeropski is no longer employed by the U.S. Senate. We will have no further comment on this personnel matter,” according to The New York Post. The United States Capitol Police are also investigating and may press criminal charges, the publication added.
Maese-Czeropski publicly denied the accusations on LinkedIn, writing, “This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda. While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgment, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace. Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated, and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters.”
“As for the accusations regarding Congressman Max Miller, I have never seen the congressman and had no opportunity or cause to yell or confronted,” Maese-Czeropski added.
Some paying commenters on X used the leaked video as an excuse to scapegoat Democrats and LGBTQ+ people.
Martin Ssempa, an anti-gay African pastor who helped criminalize gay sex in Uganda, posted a five-minute video in which he said that the sex video showed LGBTQ+ people’s sexual “depravity” and “the loss of the American empire’s glory.”
Another paying X user, @TechLawExpert wrote “Seems to happen a lot with Democrats though. Cocaine in the White House, bare breasted trans woman on the White House lawn and now gay sex video filmed in the Senate Hearing Room. Just saying.”
