Little Voice’s Heartwarming Gay Storyline Emerges in Exclusive Clip
In the new series Little Voice, about mustering the courage to find one’s authentic voice, the character Prisha makes the bold move to say the words “I’m gay,” even if her identity bucks up against her parents’s desire for her to marry a successful Indian man in this week’s episode.
The Apple TV+ series from co-creators and executive producers Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson, who collaborated on the Broadway smash Waitress, stars Brittany O’Grady as Bess, an aspiring musician and songwriter who confronts her fears about putting her music out in the world. Prisha, who is also a musician, is Bess’s best friend and navigating her own happiness while also trying to please her folks who keep setting her up with what they deem to be husband material.
In the exclusive clip below, Prisha and her arranged date come clean with each other about being in love with other people.
“In this scene, Prisha and Sundeep have been going out for a while after being introduced by their very traditional parents in the hopes of it leading to an arranged marriage,” Nelson tells The Advocate. “They have grown fond of each other, which leads them to finally admit where their hearts truly lie. Prisha is in love with her bandmate Ananya.”
New episodes of the 10-episode series Little Voice with original music from Bareilles are out on Fridays. Watch the clip from this week’s episode below.
