Katy Perry says we’ve all been singing Firework wrong this whole time

Katy Perry just revealed there has been a major misconception about the lyrics of her hit single “Firework”, and it’s left fans stunned.
Despite the fact we’ve all seen the 37-year-old singer perform her mega-hit on a number of televised occasions, it seems fans might all need to go and have another listen to clarify the exact words being uttered.
On Sunday’s American Idol, the pop superstar revealed that most people have been singing the wrong lyrics to “Firework” this whole time. Yes, really.
During a moment in between auditions with her fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, Bryan began to sing the chorus: “Make ’em go, up, up, up/As you shoot across the ah ah ah.”

Perry immediately looked on annoyed as she jumped in to correct him: “It’s not ‘up, up, up,’ and it’s not ‘ahh, ahh, ahh’.”
“Well, what is it then? ’Cause I’ve been dying to know all these years,” Bryan responded. To which Perry replied: “It’s ‘awe, awe, awe’. A-W-E.”
“It’s ‘awe, awe, awe,’ everybody. Get it right!” she added.
The “Bon Appetit” singer then shared a post on Instagram featuring the clip as well also a snippet of Jack Kerouac’s 1951 book, On the Road.
The author famous wrote: “The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes ‘Awww!’”
Perry wrote in the caption: “FOR THE OFFICIAL RECORD. It is AWE not UP. It is FIREWORK not FIREWORKSSS.”
Naturally, this surprised some fans considering the fact the lyrics online state: “Cause baby, you’re a firework. / Come on, show ’em what you’re worth. / Make ’em go, oh.”
In the official lyric video shared on Perry’s YouTube page in 2010, the word appears to be “oh” or “ah”.
Quote-tweeting Katy’s video of the scenes, one fan stated: “Shut up, I’ve been singing ‘ahh’ for f**king 12 years?!”
Another added: “So I was singing it wrong all these years.”
However, Perry did previously confirm that Jack Kerouac was the inspiration behind the song at the 2011 Grammy awards so we all should have been paying better attention.
