Freddie Mercury’s Vocals Featured on Newly Released Queen Song

Legendary rock band Queen has released a previously unheard song, “Face It Alone,” that had been recorded with the band’s iconic queer frontman Freddie Mercury.

Several months ago guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor spoke about a rediscovered track recorded with the legendary queer singer.

“We’d kind of forgotten about this track, but there it was, this little gem,” Taylor, 73, said in a press statement. “It’s wonderful, a real discovery. It’s a very passionate piece.”

At first, they said they thought the track couldn’t be saved when they recently found it.

“But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, ‘OK, we can do this and this,'” May said back in June in an interview with BBC Radio 2. “It’s like stitching bits together. But it’s beautiful. It’s touching.”

In the song’s YouTube description, May is quoted that former Queer member Jon Deacon also worked on the song.

“I’m happy that our team were able to find this track,” May said. “After all these years, it’s great to hear all four of us…yes, Deacy is there too…working in the studio on a great song idea which never quite got completed…until now!”

Mercury died of complications from AIDS in 1991 at 45.

“Face It Alone” will be featured in a box set reissue of the album it had been originally recorded for, Queen The Miracle Collector’s Edition.

The collection is out on November 18.

“Face It Alone” isn’t the first track released after Mercury’s death. Three unheard songs were featured on the 2014 compilation album Queen Forever.
