Amazon Studios has partnered with GLAAD and Pride Media to present Voices: Pride, a one-day virtual event featuring a series of roundtable conversations and lightning talks with important LGBTQ+ voices in the media and entertainment industries. Amazon Studios Voices: Pride will feature Max Harwood of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, A League of Their Own co-creator and executive producer Will Graham, and others. Topics will include trans visibility, queer spaces, a writer’s roundtable on LGBTQ+ representation in the writer’s room, and more. Amazon Studios Voices: Pride takes place Thursday, June 24, with free registration online.
“Amazon Studios has long prioritized authentic storytelling from LGBTQIA+ talent and storytellers,” Latasha Gillespie, head of global DEI for Amazon Studios, Prime Video, and IMDb, said in a statement.
“After the tremendous response to our Voices: API Representation in Film and Media event last month, we want to continue driving the conversation forward around the immediate steps Hollywood can take to improve representation and positively impact the media landscape. We are delighted to celebrate Pride by hosting our next installment of Amazon Studios Voices and invite everyone to join us in the conversation around authentic and intersectional representation of the LGBTQIA+ community on screen and behind the camera.”
Gillespie will be on hand to kick off the event at 9:00 a.m. PST on Thursday, June 24. For one of the scheduled events, directors Julie Cohen, Betsy West, and activist Dolores Chandler will join The Advocate‘s editor in chief Tracy E. Gilchrist for a discussion on the life and legacy of activist Pauli Murray. Out‘s editor in chief Daniel Reynolds will moderate a lively conversation about the new film adaptation of the hit stage musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie with actor Max Harwood and director Jonathan Butterell.
Amazon Studios Voices: Pride will take place Thursday, June 24, at 9:00 a.m. PST with events scheduled through noon. You can learn more about Amazon Studios Voices: Pride and register for free online at Voices: Pride.
