Lauren Boebert freaks out over “a guy” in women’s bathroom. She was completely wrong.

Anti-trans Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) issued a public apology on Thursday after reportedly mistaking a cisgender woman in a U.S. Capitol restroom for out transgender Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE). She allegedly told the woman, “You shouldn’t be here,” an anonymous Republican representative told The Daily Beast

“I made an error regarding a mistaken identity,” Boebert said in a statement. “I apologized, learned a lesson, and it won’t happen again.”

She told Bloomberg News reporter Billy House, “There was a rumor there was [a man in the bathroom], but it wasn’t true.”

House wrote about the incident in a series of posts on X, writing, “I bear witness: Rep. Lauren Boebert bursting out of the House Women’s restroom during this afternoon’s vote series, complaining to security personnel stationed in the nearby Speakers Lobby of ‘a guy’ inside the bathroom.”

“Intrigued, I stuck around to see who would emerge from the bathroom…and saw just 4 other people leave, all women. Within minutes, however, Boebert was storming back from the House floor into the restroom, — reinforced by Rep. Nancy Mace in tow,” House added.

“Who would dare leave this scene now? Not me,” House continued. “But alas, just seconds after this duo entered the bathroom, they come back out — and went back quietly to the floor. A bit of bathroom vigilantism?”

House concluded, “I later asked Boebert what this was all about, noting I had heard her complain there was ‘a guy’ in there. To her credit, she acknowledged it was a mistake.”

Boebert has said that trans-inclusive school policies “radicalize” students and make them mentally ill, causing them to shoot up schools.

But this isn’t the first time that Boebert has allegedly had bad bathroom etiquette in the Capitol. In January 2023, she allegedly got into a screaming match in a Capitol women’s restroom against fellow transphobe Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
