The Craft: Legacy’s LGBTQ-Inclusive Witches Explore Telepathy in Clip

Just in time for Halloween, Blumhouse’s The Craft: Legacy is now available on demand. The follow-up to 1996’s classic The Craft, about a coven of witches navigating their powers and high school, is queer-inclusive and stars transgender actress Zoey Luna as Lourdes, one of the film’s leads.
Writer-director Zoe Lister-Jones wrote the character of Lourdes specifically to expand the young women’s circle of inclusion. She worked with GLAAD on a casting call to which more than 300 trans women responded, according to The Wrap.
The official synopsis for the film reads, “In Blumhouse’s continuation of the cult hit The Craft, an eclectic foursome of aspiring teenage witches get more than they bargained for as they lean into their newfound powers.”
In the clip below, the witches including Lourdes, Tabby (Lovie Simone), and Frankie (Gideon Adlon) test out their telepathic communication skills on a newcomer to the coven, Lily (Cailee Spaeny), who’s just moved to town with her mom, played by Michelle Monaghan.
The Craft: Legacy costars Nicholas Galitzine and David Duchovny. For purists who loved the original, Fairuza Balk reprises her role as Nancy Downs in this continuation.
