Randy Rainbow’s ‘Sedition’ Takes on Trump and Mob to Tune From Fiddler
Satirist Randy Rainbow has a rule of never repeating a song for a parody, but at the request of fans and following the riots at the U.S. Capitol spurred by Donald Trump this week, he’s made an exception with “Sedition” to the tune of Fiddler on the Roof’s “Tradition.” In May, he used the song for the parody “Distraction,” in which he skewered Trump’s anemic pandemic plan.
This time, Rainbow goes all-in on Trump and the sycophants in Congress who’ve claimed without cause or proof since Joe Biden won the election that it was rigged against Trump.
“A Twitler with no proof. Sounds like a horrible idea for a musical, no? Or at least a horrible idea for a president,” Rainbow says in the song’s prologue.
“He’s attacking, ’cause he’s cracking. Shouldn’t he be packing up his sh*t?” he sings to images of the Trump mob storming the capitol.
Sen. Josh Hawley, who’s one of the leaders in perpetuating the lies about election fraud, gets his own adjective in Rainbow’s song.
“Ambition. Ambition!” he proclaims about the young senator from Missouri.
There’s no shortage of words to describe Trump’s actions and those of the people who support him.
“Delusion, corruption, confusion, destruction, sedition!” Rainbow sings.
