Two Years After Trump Praise, Shania Twain Duets With Orville Peck

Out singer-songwriter Orville Peck and pop/country star Shania Twain team up for one of the gayest country collaborations of the year with their new song, “Legends Never Die.”
In a glitzy new video, Peck and Twain don leopard print and fringe to perform at a drive-in for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 winner Jaida Essense Hall, singer Evil, and more. The video even features narration from John Waters. The queer-themed collaboration may help repair relations between Twain and the LGBTQ+ community, following her infamous 2018 declaration that she would have voted for Trump if she was American (she’s a Canadian citizen). Twain later apologized for her statement. 
“I cannot thank Shania enough for being part of this,” Peck said in a statement. “She has always been a hero of mine and her music made me feel so empowered growing up. As cliché as it sounds, recording with her and getting to get up on stage and sing with her in Nashville is a dream come true. No words really.”
With the music video comes the release of his new EP, Show Pony, featuring two tracks he’s already released (“Summertime” and “No Glory in the West”) as well a very queer cover of Reba McEntire’s “Fancy.”
This is the EP Peck has “always wanted to make. Having spent the past year on the road and then in quarantine, I was able to reflect on all that had happened since the release of Pony and expand upon it. This is a collection of stories and I hope listeners will join me in them.” 
Peck and Twain will perform the track live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on August 17 at 11:35 p.m. ET.
